3D Interior Design Process

Step One: Align Project Objectives and Goals
Because each project begins with a set of general objectives and goals, the first step of the Shift5 3D Interior Design Process is to spend time fully discussing a client’s specific needs and wants. We take the time to learn about personal styles, discuss budget parameters, and assess a host of other topics that help us determine the best direction for the design. This first step leads to the preparation of conceptual plans that highlight the general functional relationships of areas and furniture layouts. These plans are then presented to the client for review and approval.

*Clients are always encouraged to collect and reference photos and magazine images that appeal to them as this greatly aids the design process.

Step Two: 3D Design
Shift5 begins applying our 3D technology and methodology to the approved conceptual plans. Since 3D designs represent a virtually instantaneous medium, Shift5’s designers are free to explore new ideas, modify colors, and move pieces around. Being able to manipulate the three-dimensional environment means we can pinpoint the optimal approaches that work best for the client. Each 3D rendering provides a seamless, photo-realistic preview of what the project will look like in the real world. This allows clients to clearly see the intended result before it’s ever built. Step two is refreshingly simple—just sit back and watch your three-dimensional environment come to life!

Step Three: Revision Period
Since our 3D designs look more like pictures, clients can easily make sense of what the project will look like in the real world. As a result, all the early imperfections and ideas that may not be desirable can immediately undergo correction during this stage. Clients will have 30 days to reflect upon the renderings and hone their design to perfection.

Step Four: Construction Documents
In this stage, we transform your approved 3D design into a complete set of code-compliant construction documents. With these documents, clients are free to use their own preferred builder or compare potential contractor rates. If clients are not comfortable seeking a builder, Shift5 will be happy to assign your project to one of our trusted and fully licensed contractors.

Step Five: Construction Administration
Shift5 offers a comprehensive supervision package that supports clients through each phase of the design process. From initial purchasing to final installation, our Construction Administration Services (CA) are always available and consist of two components: office administration and field observation. Combined, the two components ensure that a client will receive all elements of a fully integrated design process, including the preparation of punch lists, issuance of drawing revisions for construction, site visits during construction, and clarification of design issues that may arise during construction. Shift5 clients are fully covered through every step of their design project.
