Sustainability has become an important global topic. A broad and expansive subject, the key to successfully approaching sustainability lies in a multifaceted approach and requires well-rounded, collaborative viewpoints. Since the Shift5 team is comprised of a wide range of disciplines, including architects, engineers, interior designers, planners and environmental scientists, we’re constantly internalizing and defining a more comprehensive environmental consciousness for ourselves as well as our clients.

Anticipating emerging global standards, we carefully consider each interior design and architectural element’s effects on the environment as well as its aesthetic resonance for the client. Integrated, unified solutions are brought together at the start of the planning and design processes to foster a healthy and environmentally responsible indoor environment for the end user. Energy efficiencies, proper engineering of building systems, artificial lighting and control system designs, solar control elements, and sensitive interior material and color palette selections contribute to the overall level of sustainability for each Shift5 design project.
